You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 22:37-40 ESV)

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (John 15:12 ESV)

Psalm 8

3 comments:

  1. Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
    (Psalm 8:2 ESV)

I love this verse because it shows how amazing God is! Can you imagine how frustrated his enemies must be? If their kids are saying God is good, then those guys have no hope. He is amazing!

  2. Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet.
    Psalm 8:5-6 (ESV)

This is something that's always nice to be reminded about. In Genesis God gave man dominion over the creatures of the earth, but this does not mean we can let it go to ruin from our own pride and greed. As sons and daughters of God we must care for the earth as humble servants and give back to God what is God. It's especially important to be reminded of this fact today on the feast day of St. Joseph, protector of the Church, the custos in Greek. Therefore with honor and glory let's all be custos of God's majestic gifts.

  3. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

God is amazing. He created everything we see in the universe, which is A LOT. Yet he still cares about man, His creation. How humbling is it for us, that He would send his Son to save us when we seem so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Just wow.
